Sorry about the lack of updates lately. School ended about one week after the last update, so that week was spent trying to get grades done. After that, I've been spending quite a bit of time in the classroom cleaning it.
Well it is finally World Cup time again. Although I don't follow soccer much, I do love the World Cup. Hopefully a few of my favorite teams will do well this go around. As far as my teams, I would like to see the following teams do well (in preferential order):
For all your FIFA World Cup action, try their website. I've found that the website is somewhat easy to navigate. Of interest may be the group standings and points. Only the top 2 teams from each group will make it to elimination play. The United States is in a very difficult group with the Czech Republic, Italy, and Ghana. Mexico's group is slightly less difficult. Group D (Mexico's group) consists of Mexico, Iran, Angola, and Portugal.
Of course, if you're like me, you don't know who the heck is on your favorite team. The FIFA World Cup site has a listing of all the teams participating. If you go here, click on your favorite team to take to your team's website. The rosters are listed under Squad (Or if your team is one of my teams, click on my team above.)
I certainly will enjoy this month. Of course all the matches will be good, but here are the matches I'm looking forward to:
- Monday June 12th - USA vs. Czech Republic (Should be a great game. USA is Ranked 5th in the world by FIFA and the Czech Republic has a world ranking of 2nd.)
- Friday June 16th - Mexico vs. Angola
- Friday June 16th - Argentina vs Serbia & Montengro
- Saturday June 15th - Italy vs USA
- Wednesday June 21st - Portugal vs. Mexico (#7 in the World vs. #4 Mexico)
- Wednesday June 21st - Netherlands vs Argentina
- Thursday June 22nd - Ghana vs USA
Enjoy!
(By the way, the picture is of Mexico's second and deciding goal in today's match vs. Iran. Again, found on the official FIFA World Cup website.)

Dude! I know this is sooo off the World Cup topic, but guess what I found today? Do you remember Escape Velocity - that spacefaring trade/fight pirates/work for planetary governments game for the Mac that we used to play for hours senior year, with the add ons to let you change ships into Star Wars/Trek ones? After many months of dreaming about it, I finally found figured out its name and where one can download it! Of course, the old version won't work with either a PC or Mac OSX, but they have a third generation version of the game called Escape Velicoty Nova that can do both. And you can download plugins to emulate the original EV.
I'm sooo loading it up this weekend. And I figured I'd lete you know so you can get a few games in before Squirmy comes along and occupies all your free time. =)
Say hi to the wife and pets and squirmy for me!
