As for today, it was hot. The room progressively got hotter as the day went along. At noon it was 80 degrees, and now it is 87 degrees. It is very uncomfortable for the kids to work in the room when it is this hot.
I'm going to wrap this up quick, as I'm off to watch a junior high volleyball match. I haven't watched one all year, and seeing as how I coached these girls last year, I'm curious as to how they are progressing as players. I can't wait to see them play!
Run down for today:
- ESCI - Took a test. Grades were consistently good, but some of the better students didn't do so well.
- Chem - Worked on more problems with naming compounds and writing chemical formulas. Graded yesterday's assignment, overall it went well, but there are some problems that will need to be addressed on Thursday. (I won't have 90% of them tomorrow, PSAT testing.)
- LSCI - More notes/discussion. It is taking longer than I anticipated, but the class is very lively with discussion.
- PSCI - Worked on a lab. Yup, dropping balls, then timing how long it takes to fall. They will be graphing the data so hopefully they can "see" the ball accelerate. They aren't quite at the level yet to "calculate" the acceleration due to gravity.
- BIO - Gave them the exact same quiz as last week. Overall, the vocabulary scores went up, but the concept portion just stank. Over half the students didn't even bother to answer the questions. I even told them up front that it would be the exact same quiz. It shows me that they didn't even bother looking at the quiz when it was handed back to them last week.
- ADV BIO - Just finishing up summarizing the extremely short chapter. Out of my 3 students, 2 were done 20 minutes into class today. The third, after 2 whole periods, had managed to summarize the first 3 paragraphs. And he wonders why I'm upset with him.
