Tuesday, but it seemed like a Monday

Oh boy, what a day. Catching a student cheating on an assignment, giving out tests to two classes, and lab. Here's the run down:

Earth Science (ESCI) - Kids were still separating their mixtures of sawdust, salt, and iron filings. Most of them were having a good time, and nothing was broken today (unlike yesterday.) Lots of fun for me and the kids.

Chemistry (Chem) - gave out a test. corrected it later this afternoon. Lets just say the average was 62.8%, and that number was skewed HIGH because one student earned a 95%. Next highest grade was 81%. I usually would be upset, but I am not. The students (most, but not all) have not been taking the class seriously, and I guess this is what they have earned.

Life Science (LSCI) - They had a test also. But unlike chem, they have been taking the class seriously, and only 1 student scored less than 70%. These students really do try to do their best.

PSCI - Notes today. They moaned, complained, and whined alot. That stopped when I told them the overhead was broken (yup broken), and I would have to write the notes on the board. Then they moaned because they said my handwriting was horrible. I showed them, not one question about what was written. (Lots of questions about the material though.)

Biology (Bio) - Had a review crossword puzzle for the kids to prepare them for tomorrow's quiz. Most worked on it most of the period. 1 student actually took a crossword puzzle out of the "turn in" box with the intent to copy it. Geez... what gall. The student never actually did copy it. Had a discussion with the student with an appropriate punishment.

Advanced Biology (Adv. Bio) - Let the kids finish their study guide to help them study for tomorrow's test. One student hadn't even started theirs. So instead of working on it, they proceeded to tell me (or anyone who would listen) why it wasn't done. By the end of the period, they had finished one whole question.

That was it for school today. Homecoming a week from friday.
